Wings

I was listening to some Glee songs on the iTunes store, hence the reason for this post.  There are a number of songs I feel like Glee should have never covered.

1.  Wings - made famous by Little Mix

I love Little Mix, but if a cover is good, I'll admit that it was good.  This cover, on the other hand, was... brutal is too harsh of a word.  This cover was... interesting?  It was performed in the final episode of the fourth season in May 2013, "All or Nothing."

Here's the real version

And here's the Glee version

2.  It's Time - made famous by Imagine Dragons

I absolutely love the percussion in this song, but it's absent from the Glee version.  While Darren Criss's voice is great, this cover just isn't doing it for me.  It was performed in the first episode of the fourth season, "The New Rachel."

Here's the real version

And here's the Glee version

3.  Story of My Life - made famous by One Direction

I am kind of against any cover of One Direction because if you're not One Direction, you can't sound like One Direction, so you shouldn't be singing One Direction.  I might feel this way because only Blaine and Kurt are singing, as opposed to the five guys we are normally used to hearing.  This song first aired in "The Back-Up Plan," the 18th episode of the fifth season.

Here's the real version

And here's the Glee version

But don't worry.  I am a pretty fair person, so I will, tomorrow, post about some awesome Glee covers.

Dancing Shoes

I have a whole list of songs I would like to cover...is that weird?  I guess I think my voice will improve enough to be able to sing some of them and that I will actually get around to covering them for YouTube purposes.  But let's be real:  we ALL know I will never get around to covering them.

That's why I am going to make a promise.  I will try my very best to cover a good number of the songs on this list by the end of the year.  Don't believe me?  Yeah, neither do I.

  1. "Teenage Dirtbag" - Wheatus
  2. "Let It Be" - The Beatles
  3. "Dancing Shoes" - DEV
  4. "These Four Walls" - Little Mix
  5. "Towers" - Little Mix
  6. "Little Talks" - Of Monsters and Men
  7. "Half A Heart" - One Direction
  8. "Hallelujah" - Carly Rose Sonenclar
  9. "Dream A Little Dream of Me" - The Mamas & the Papas
  10. "Don't Let Me Go" - Sam McCarthy feat. Harry Styles

Word Up!

Little Mix recently covered this song for Sport Relief 2014 and I had never heard it until I heard their version.

The song "Word Up!" was a 1986 R&B/Funk song by Cameo.  The song was their first US Top 40 hit and made it to number six on the charts.  It was written by Lawrence Ernest Blackmon & Thomas Michael Jenkins.

I like Little Mix's version because, well, it's Little Mix, and because I honestly think it sounds better with girls?

I don't know why I said that like I'm asking you.

And apparently the charity single Little Mix has recorded will only be released in the UK on March 16 in digital download format and March 17 as a CD single at Sainsbury's.  Lame.

But I want it NOW.

Towers

My dad got me Little Mix's sophomore album Salute yesterday and I am obsessed!!

The album sounds similar to their debut, but like One Direction, this one definitely has a more mature and progressed sound - like they've come a long way since they started their career.  Their voices were great on DNA, but they all sound amazing and have improved so much in the past two and a half years.  The girls wrote most of the songs, so they have their own personal touches in them.

The track list is as follows:
  1. Salute
  2. Move
  3. Little Me
  4. Nothing Feels Like You
  5. Towers
  6. Competition
  7. These Four Walls
  8. About The Boy
  9. Boy
  10. Good Enough
  11. Mr Loverboy
  12. A Different Beat
My favorite (besides the first three tracks) would have to be "Towers" or "These Four Walls."  I love "These  Four Walls" because they don't sing together until the end and they sound amazing.  With "Towers," I love the music and the verses.  Overall, I give the album 4/5 stars.

These Four Walls

I watched this on YouTube yesterday and it is Little Mix singing "These Four Walls" from their new album Salute.  This is an unofficial video but I LOVE it.  I know it may sound weird, but I get choked up when the video shows them winning X Factor.  And on top of that I fell in love with the song.  I think it is beautiful and really displays their amazing amount of talent individually and as a group.

Can We Dance

The Vamps were formed in 2012, but can I just say that I really want them to release their debut album in the US right away in 2014.

The British (of course they are Brits!) pop rock band has four members: Bradley Simpson (lead vocals), Connor Ball (bass guitar and vocals), Tristan Evans (drums and vocals), and James McVey (vocals and guitar).  The group signed with Mercury Records.  Ever since they have supported Little Mix, The Wanted, and Lawson.

This past April and May, The Vamps supported McFly on their tour and in July put their first song "Wildheart" on YouTube.  Their debut album is set to be released next year.

But they are an amazing band so let's keep our fingers crossed that they tour in the US very soon!

Salute

There are plenty of songs that I absolutely hate before I love.  Whether it's the rhythm, the lyrics, or the genre, sometimes all I need to do is listen to it 50 times before it is one of my favorites.

  1. Little Mix - Salute - This song is off their new album Salute which is not yet available in the states.  I couldn't resist myself and I listened to all of the songs on YouTube and the second this song started playing, I immediately turned it off.  I thought it was absolute rubbish!  The beat just gave me chills.  But since I love Little Mix, I brought myself to listen to it a few times and now it is one of my favorite tracks on the album.
  2. One Direction - Change My Mind - I know, I know.  How could I hate a 1D song?  I'll admit that I had never listened to the song from the beginning to the end until about four months after I got the album.  The reason?  I hated the beginning of the song.  It was not Louis, I just found the first ten seconds to be very dull and borrring.
  3. Lorde - Royals - I have never heard a song played on the radio as much as this one.  I was sick of hearing it, until I listened to it on my own.  I don't love it, but I like listening to it.  I guess you could say it's one of those songs that I have to be in the mood to listen to.

Little Me

Little Mix just released their sophomore album basically everywhere except the US!!  Thanks, girls (sorry for the sarcasm).  Salute features their brand new single "Move" which is available for download on iTunes.  At least we get that to help make this dreadful wait a little bit better.

Well I am a huge fan of the X Factor UK.  There is a portion of the show called The Xtra Factor and Little Mix performed a song from their new album called "Little Me."  I fell in love with it immediately!

This is a piano version of the song, but it is still as good as the recording.  I just think they sound beautiful in this.  The four girls - Perrie, Leigh-Anne, Jade, and Jesy - sound amazing together.  Their voices all compliment the next girl's perfectly.  This song has the same sound as their first album DNA, so I like that, too.

Move

So, Little Mix is BACK with a brand new single off their sophomore album, Salute.  I have been anxiously awaiting this song and it is exactly what I have been expecting!

Little Mix's new single "Move."  Enjoy!!

Chapel of Love

A quick congratulations to One Direction's Zayn Malik and Little Mix's Perrie Edwards on their engagement!  I just found out this morning and am very, very happy for them!!

Edwards was seen wearing the ring yesterday at the premiere of 1D's new movie This Is Us.  Perrie's mother, Debbie Duffy, confirmed the news and said she is "over the moon."  While we see most people are happy about the exciting news, I bet some 1D fans are quite jealous.  Don't listen to them, Perrie and Zayn.  The two of you deserve the very best!!

My drawings

Little Mix

I drew this last year.  As you may know, Little Mix is one if my favorite groups so I had to draw each of the members' logos.

One Direction

My previous explanation is pretty much the same for this picture.  I could not pass up the opportunity to draw the boys.

Cher Lloyd

This one was so much fun to draw because I really just drew any shapes and colored with the first color I saw!

Little Mixer

Being the huge fan of England that I am, Little Mix is definitely on my "favorite bands" list.  In 2011, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock auditioned for X Factor UK as solo artists. When none of them made it past bootcamp, singer-songwriter Tulisa Contostavlos put the girls together as a group and they made it on to the live shows.  The girls, ages 19-21, won the eighth season of the show, being the first group to win X Factor.  "DNA" is the second single off their new album DNA (available in the UK November 19) following their previous hit single, "Wings".  Yesterday, Little Mix's music video for their new song was released on youtube.com/LittleMixVEVO and vevo.com.  Here it is!
