Don't Stop

[Source:  Google]

Big announcement:  Aussie band 5 Seconds of Summer will be making their US television debut at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards on May 18th!

Of course I am super psyched because I can't seem to get enough of them.  I mean, look at them - they're gorgeous.  And have you heard them sing?  What's better than a guy who can sing well and play an instrument?!

The award ceremony will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.  Unfortunately for the pop-punk band they will be unable to gamble - their eldest member has yet to become 20-years-old, the other three are either 17 or 18.

5SOS have made their new single, "Don't Stop," available for pre-order on iTunes pretty much everywhere except for the US, Canada, and Mexico, which is a little odd considering they released their latest EP, She Looks So Perfect, in the states only a few weeks following the release of the extended play in their native country and others.  I wish I had answers, but I don't, so I apologize.

But since they're Australian, they each get joy out of being a tease.  They have released their solo vocals and solo instrumentals on Instagram with the fifteen second video option.  Have a little taste of their gorgeous voices below.

It's Gonna Be Me

I don't know how many of you have the app Vine, but for those of you who are unaware of the application, you are able to make videos six seconds or less and post them for everyone to see.  Of course there are people who are "Vine Famous" who make hysterical videos and have millions of followers, but that's besides the point.

My friend and I are obsessed with this one video where a guy is rocking out, like I mean ROCKING OUT, to *NSYNC.

As you can hear from that clip, this song is extremely catchy, as well as most '90s pop songs.  Of course my friend and I are going to have to listen to this song every time we are in the car just so we can dance like this guy.

This Vine put me on an *NSYNC kick, though, that's for sure.  Dancing to "Bye Bye Bye" right in front of your eyes is something that could very well occur.  There's about a 98% chance it will at one point.

She Looks So Perfect

I want to start by apologizing to all of my readers.  I haven't been on much because I have been extremely busy and overwhelmed with sports and school.  I am surprised I have found time to breathe.  I am going to try my best to post every day again.

On that note, 5 Seconds of Summer have recently released a new song on YouTube through a lyric video called "She Looks So Perfect."

[Source:  YouTube]
I think the lyrics are very clever:  "She looks so perfect standing there / In my American Apparel underwear," and "Your lipstick stain is a work of art / I've got your name tattooed in an arrow heart."  Those lines come from the first chorus.  It's a pop/rock love song the way he compliments her from her figure to the stain her lipstick leaves behind.

And how cute is it that he got her name tattooed...in an arrow heart?!?!  Aww, you cheeky boy.

In the second chorus, the lyrics change a little from "Your lipstick stain is a work of art / I've got your name tattooed in an arrow heart," to "I made a mixtape straight out of '94 / I've got your ripped skinny jeans lying on the floor."  I like making myself mixtapes, but receiving one from him from 1994 would be incredible and adorable.

The word "hey" was said 79 times.  79 times!  That's a lot of times.

The song is called "She Looks So Perfect" which is sung the first line of the chorus along with "...In my American Apparel underwear."  He says the whole time how much he loves her - all because he likes the way his underwear looks on her.

Pure Heroine

My GRAMMY winners continued:

6.  Best Pop Duo/Group Performance

"Get Lucky" - Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers)
"Just Give Me A Reason" - P!nk (feat. Nate Ruess)
"Stay" - Rihanna (feat. Mikky Ekko)
"Blurred Lines" - Robin Thicke (feat. T.I. & Pharrell)
"Suit & Tie" - Justin Timberlake & Jay Z

I had a lot of trouble picking between Daft Punk and P!nk for this one, and I know I picked two yesterday for Album of the Year, but I shouldn't have done that because there can only be one winner for each category.  I went with Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers because, again, I think this song was done soooo well.  It's pretty rare that Daft Punk disappoints.  There's nothing about this song that I don't like.

7.  Best Pop Vocal Album

Paradise - Lana Del Rey
Pure Heroine - Lorde
Unorthodox Jukebox - Bruno Mars
Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke
The 20/20 Experiences - The Complete Experience - Justin Timberlake

I know, I know:  How could I have picked Lorde?  Overall, here debut album is pretty solid.  Yes, I am sick of hearing "Royals" and I am tired of hearing everyone go crazy over this 17-year-old New Zealand star, but I recently got a chance to listen to the record and every song is good - not a single one (well, besides "Royals") is terrible.  Maybe there is reason to hype...

8.  Best Dance Recording

"Need U (100%)" - Duke Dumont (feat. A*M*E & MNEK)
"Sweet Nothing" - Calvin Harris (feat. Florence Welch)
"Atmosphere" - Kaskade
"This Is What It Feels Like" - Armin Van Buuren (feat. Trevor Guthrie)
"Clarity" - Zedd (feat. Foxes)

I am still obsessed with this song.  I love the mix and I love her voice.  I was listening to iTunes and saw something I never realized that on Lady Gaga's album Born This Way (Deluxe Edition), Zedd remixed her song "Marry The Night," which is really good.  Anyway, this song was the biggest hit out of the five nominees, so Zedd deserves to win this.

There are only a few more categories I am going to post, so I'll do those tomorrow!

Born To Make You Happy

Pop legend of the 1990s.  I don't remember getting ...Baby One More Time when it was released, but I know my mom went out and bought it for me because I loved Britney.

As a young girl, I of course loved "...Baby One More Time."  It wasn't until about a year ago that I really got into "Born To Make You Happy."  The portion of the song that is the collision is my favorite.  Right after the bridge, going into the final chorus, is when I get goosebumps.  That beginning of the final hoorah gets a faster, more intense, beat.  To hear what I'm talking about, skip to 3:07.

[Source:  YouTube]
The song itself is a typical teen-pop track.  With lyrics like "I don't know how to live without your love / I was born to make you happy," you can easily figure out this is a song about an upset teenager going through a rough heartbreak.  But despite the '90s tune, I still love this song.

Can We Dance

The Vamps were formed in 2012, but can I just say that I really want them to release their debut album in the US right away in 2014.

The British (of course they are Brits!) pop rock band has four members: Bradley Simpson (lead vocals), Connor Ball (bass guitar and vocals), Tristan Evans (drums and vocals), and James McVey (vocals and guitar).  The group signed with Mercury Records.  Ever since they have supported Little Mix, The Wanted, and Lawson.

This past April and May, The Vamps supported McFly on their tour and in July put their first song "Wildheart" on YouTube.  Their debut album is set to be released next year.

But they are an amazing band so let's keep our fingers crossed that they tour in the US very soon!

Watch Me Fall

I was lucky enough to receive a follow on Twitter from this adorable Brit, Greg Fidler.  I don't know much about him except for the fact he is based in London and has released an EP and single on iTunes.  Yes, even the US iTunes has this amazing singer.

His EP is entitled Watch Me Fall and has "Guess I Know (Acoustic Session)," "Watch Me Fall," "Faded," and "Watch Me Fall (Acoustic Session)" as tracks.  His most recent single is "Without You" and was released not too long ago.

I have gotten a chance to listen to all of his songs and they are incredible and his voice makes them even better!  The songs are very well produced and written and honestly, I haven't heard many people sing the way he can - his voice is phenomenal.  And he's attractive, so that's definitely a plus ;)!

He's a very talented lad and I really hope he makes it far.  That's partially why I am writing about him.  Artists like him make me love music even more than I already do.  People like him are the reason I do what I do everyday - write a blog!  Greg is definitely a singer I would love to meet and/or collaborate with.  So, Greg, if you see this, I thank you.  I thank you for your passion for music and for your awesome lyrics.  I guess that's what my blog comes down to now...awesomeness.

Andy, Ryan, Joel, and Adam

Andy Brown (acoustic guitar and lead vocals), Ryan Fletcher (bass guitar and backing vocals), Joel Peat (lead guitar and backing vocals), and Adam Pitts (drums) are the four men making up the British pop band Lawson.  They are currently based in London and released their debut album, Chapman Square, in October 2012.

I first found out about this band the same way I find out about a lot of music - Instagram.  Their sound is similar to that of The Wanted, in case you were wondering but are too lazy to look them up yourself which in understandable.  I am like that, too.

They have had five singles released over the past year and a half in the UK and IRL:

  1. When She Was Mine (2012)
  2. Taking Over Me (2012)
  3. Standing In The Dark
  4. Learn To Love Again (2012)
  5. Brokenhearted (feat. B.o.B) (2013)
The only song available as of right now in the US on iTunes is "Learn To Love Again", all of their songs are available on the UK/IRL iTunes, but I am unsure about other countries.

What About Love

Another obsession has risen and it is with Austin Mahone's song "What About Love."  I heard it when it was first released but never really listened to it until today.  I have had the song on repeat for the past thirty minutes.  He sounds just like Justin Bieber and is cute like him, too!  The beat has a little bit of an 'N Sync sound to it, don't ask me why I think that, though :P.
