The Same

I heard this song back in 2010 when it was first released and I forgot all about it until about five minutes ago when I stumbled upon it on YouTube.  The song is called "The Same" by sibling duo, Michael & Marisa.

The song was recorded for anti-bullying purposes and is a good song, especially considering they are young in the video.

And while I was browsing their videos on YouTube, I came across a cover of "Royals" mixed with David Essex's "Rock On" and it is pretty amazing.

I love their voices together.  The last brother-sister-duo we have seen was like the Carpenters, or, Donny and Marie Osmond.

Just kidding, The White Stripes was more recent.

Anyway, the siblings are from Boston and have opened for notable acts such as David Archuleta, Mitchel Musso, and Drake Bell.  They released their debut album, Kickin' It Together, in June 2008, but have released several EPs and a single since then.

You can buy their songs on iTunes!

I Knew You Were Trouble

It's very rare to see me rant on my blog, especially when it comes to singers and bands.  But there are so so so many singers that have been getting on my last nerve.

1.  Taylor Swift.  Her music, especially from Red, is very catchy and entertaining. BUT, the fact that a majority of her songs are written about her two-month flings drives me insane.  And on top of that, her snarky comments when receiving her awards are uncalled for and immature.  But she seems like a good friend and is a great musician and completely worked for where she is today in the music industry, so I honestly applaud her for that.

2.  Lorde.  I don't know.  Something about her kind of freaks me out.  She's 17-years-old yet acts like she's 70.  "Royals" and the other songs on Pure Heroine are all extremely well done and she has a great voice.  I guess you could say I just find her a little creepy.

3.  Robin Thicke.  I'll just start by saying that "Blurred Lines" was never on my iPhone.  And to be really honest, I don't think I have ever listened to the song from beginning to end.  Yes, I know parts, and from what I've heard, it's annoying.  And to make things more annoying, Robin Thicke is constantly a musical guest at an awards show.  What?!?!

Salute

There are plenty of songs that I absolutely hate before I love.  Whether it's the rhythm, the lyrics, or the genre, sometimes all I need to do is listen to it 50 times before it is one of my favorites.

  1. Little Mix - Salute - This song is off their new album Salute which is not yet available in the states.  I couldn't resist myself and I listened to all of the songs on YouTube and the second this song started playing, I immediately turned it off.  I thought it was absolute rubbish!  The beat just gave me chills.  But since I love Little Mix, I brought myself to listen to it a few times and now it is one of my favorite tracks on the album.
  2. One Direction - Change My Mind - I know, I know.  How could I hate a 1D song?  I'll admit that I had never listened to the song from the beginning to the end until about four months after I got the album.  The reason?  I hated the beginning of the song.  It was not Louis, I just found the first ten seconds to be very dull and borrring.
  3. Lorde - Royals - I have never heard a song played on the radio as much as this one.  I was sick of hearing it, until I listened to it on my own.  I don't love it, but I like listening to it.  I guess you could say it's one of those songs that I have to be in the mood to listen to.
