All About You

So, Hilary Duff is back in the music game.  It's been seven years, which means she is seven years older, now 26.  Her new music says otherwise, though.

I loved Hilary Duff.  I grew up in love with her Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire, so I also listened to her music, especially that from her 2003 album, Metamorphosis.  But, I feel your music should grow with you.  We see it all the time with artists.  Miley Cyrus, for example, has matured her sound so much.  Her life changed and so did what she produced in the studio.

Unfortunately with Hilary, her music still sounds like she's seventeen.  I think her comeback single "Chasing the Sun" was missing what we all expected.  When you go for comeback, you need to do something bigger and better than you ever did before - that's how your followers come back.

"Chasing the Sun" is basically that song you skip over on every album.

"All About You," however, was just released today (fourteen days after "Chasing the Sun") and is better.  I think this one should have been released as the "comeback."

My only issue, though, is that the lyrics are indeed good, but I don't want to hear them from a 26-year-old mother.  While this matter would not prevent me from purchasing the single, I just think it's kind of an inappropriate song for her to sing.

I think it's pretty good song, though.  Have a listen.

Sirens

Cher Lloyd's first single off her upcoming album Sorry I'm Late is definitely worth the long wait.  It's such an addicting song.

The song was released on iTunes not too long ago and is a little different from what we're used to getting from her.  Her songs usually contain rap but this one doesn't at all.  It's actually a beautiful song and she sounds amazing as well...as usual.

Oath

Well, it is official.  English singer Cher Lloyd married longtime beau Craig Monk on the 18th.

You all know I am a huge fan of the pop star so I am so happy for her and her new husband.  She may only be 20-years-old, but he star has already accomplished so much with her career with number-one singles, top twenty album in five countries, and a sophomore album on the way, Cher has done more than the average 20-something.

So Close

So I remember hearing Jennette McCurdy's song "So Close" in 2009 on YouTube when it first came out.  I had no idea she could sing so well!

The song is country and she really sounds amazing in it.  Here's a video [Source:  YouTube]:

I literally have not listened to the song in years and I have no idea what made me think of listening to it the other day, but I did and I forgot how amazing it actually is.  Her voice is absolutely flawless and her range is incredible as well.  Job well done, Jennette.

Wrecking Ball

I have been a fan of Miley Cyrus since her Hannah Montana days.  It is upsetting to see everything she has recently done, but that will not stop me from buying her new album Bangerz or from even talking about her on my blog.

She has had several music videos in the previous years.  In honor of Miley Cyrus and her, as some would say, "better days," here are her music videos.

We Can't Stop - 2013

Wrecking Ball - 2013

Who Owns My Heart - 2010

Can't Be Tamed - 2010

Party In The U.S.A. - 2009

When I Look At You - 2009

The Climb - 2009

7 Things - 2008

Fly on the Wall - 2008

Start All Over - 2007

Thunder Road

Happy birthday to the Boss, Bruce Springsteen!  Like me, the New Jersey native has always had a thing for music.  Practicing in a neighbor's home, playing gigs at the Stone Pony, and making a name for Asbury Park are only a few of the things this rock star has to talk about.  He has had so many hit singles and so many sold-out concerts.  So many, actually, that it is hard to keep track.

I've talked about Bruce Springsteen before so I won't repeat myself.  I'm just wishing the legend a happy birthday - Jersey Girl to Jersey Boy.

Midnight Red

I first heard their song "Take Me Home" on a Coca-Cola commercial earlier this week and it's a very good tune!  I think it is the perfect summer song.  Midnight Red is an American boy band consisting of members Colton Rudloff, Anthony Ladao, Thomas Augusto, Eric Secharia, and Joey Diggs.

They are a more poppy version of Lawson, the band I spoke of yesterday.  Their voices, like One Direction, sound absolutely amazing together.  They opened for the NKOTBSB Tour in 2011 and they are in the midst of recording for their debut album, scheduled to be released this year.

"Take Me Home" is available on iTunes as well as another single, "Hell Yeah," and an EP entitled, "One Club At a Time."
