A song a day

I'm sorry I haven't been on much lately, so I thought of a good idea. For the days I don't have time to "post" something, I'll just post a picture of a song I have been listening to a lot at the moment. We can start now.

Billy Squier

(photo: wikipedia.com)

I have to admit, whenever I hear a Billy Squier song, I always think back to Billy Madison when Billy starts high school again and is blasting "The Stroke" and all of the kids give him weird looks because that song was popular in the early '80s.

Billy Squier, born William Haislip Squier, released nine studio albums between 1980 and 1998.  The Boston-native started taking piano lessons when he was just nine and continued for three years, the third year because his grandfather bribed him to do so.  He soon after became interested in playing the guitar and bought his first one for $95, but he never took lessons.  Squier formed a band Piper in 1976 and they released two albums, their debut being Piper.  After the release of the album, Circus Magazine said it was the greatest debut album ever released by an American rock band.

Thrift Shop

This has been on the iTunes charts for quite some time now.  I am very obsessed with this song.  I am not at all a fan of rap music, but I do love this song.  The song is by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz - I'm not sure who "Wanz" is though.  In the song, Macklemore is talking about going to a thrift shop and buying things, with only $20.  He talks about buying a broken keyboard, footsie pajamas, coats, and many other interesting items on his shopping trip.

Billion Dollar Babies

Side One:
1. Hello! Hooray!
2. Raped and Freezin'
3. Elected
4. Billion Dollar Babies
5. Unfinished Sweet

Side Two:
1. No More Mr. Nice Guy
2. Generation Landslide
3. Sick Things
4. Mary Ann
5. I Love The Dead

I don't know why I find this record so iconic. Maybe it's because it's one of Alice Cooper's greatest albums (in my opinion).
