The Legend of Zelda

I was listening to some DJs on SoundCloud and stumbled across Zedd's remix of the "Legend of Zelda" theme.

I have always thought that game was fun, but I am awful at video games, so I would always lose and get frustrated when I received the dreaded GAME OVER on the screen.

I went through a house-genre phase and I think this is the first video game remix I have come across.  There may be a few Super Mario ones out there, so don't be surprised if I spring it on you in the near future.

In the Stars

Since I went to the Miley concert at the beginning of the month, I have been a fan of Icona Pop.  I was never a huge fan but they were awesome live!

The Swedish electro house DJ duo was formed in 2009 by Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo.  The two went to a music school in Stockholm and met at a party and formed the duo.  Their most famous song was "I Love It."  the song was featured in various commercials, TV shows, and movies.

Last year the girls went on tour with Marina and the Diamonds for her Lonely Hearts Club Tour, and this year they tour with Miley Cyrus for her Bangerz World Tour and Katy Perry for her Prismatic World Tour.

My favorite song of theirs is "In The Stars," the sixth track off their 2013 album, This Is... Icona Pop.  Take a listen to the song.

Still D.R.E.

I had been dying for Beats by Dr. Dre himself and finally decided it was time to buy some.  I went on Friday to buy a pair of Beats Solo HD headphones and bought the new "drenched in color" ones in teal.  One of the best decisions I have ever made.

[Source:  Amazon]

First off, just placing the headphones on your ears blocks out unwanted sound.  And when you actually play music, the sound is phenomenal!

There are so many different kinds of Beats headphones:

  1. Studio - $299.95
  2. Studio Wireless - $379.95
  3. Solo HD - $199.95
  4. Mixr - $249.95 (perfect for the DJ!!)
  5. Pro - $449.95
  6. Wireless - $279.95
  7. Executive - $299.95
I know the prices seem intimidating and they are, but they are completely worth the money if you plan on wearing them.  I have been wearing them all day and the songs sound 20x better with these headphones.  With normal headphones or earbuds, they are made and sold to make songs sound good, not sound the way they were recorded, which is exactly what any Beats product will give you - the song the way it was intended.

But you don't have to buy the headphones, you can buy several different types of earbuds and speakers - all are amazing!  All of the products come in different and really cool colors.  I highly recommend any Beats By Dre product because they all work really well.

Ooh Kill 'Em

I am going to talk about three songs, all by different artists but remixed by the same two guys:  CAKED UP.

They are amazing DJs and their remixes make me so pumped on so many levels.  Oscar Wylde and Vegas Banger have remixed so many songs from Miley's "Wrecking Ball" to Lorde's "Royals," but neither of those made it onto my list.

Song 1:  "Drop It Low" - Ester Dean feat. Chris Brown

Sorry, this one has to be a link.  Out of the three I am displaying, this is probably my second favorite, but I still think it is such a great pump up song for your evening visit to the gym.

Song 2:  "Gas Pedal" - Sage the Gemini

This song may be the most offensive out of the three, which is why it's not my favorite.  It sounds very similar to the original track, but the remix sounds A LOT better in my opinion.

Song 3 - "Ooh Kill 'Em" - Terio

[Source:  YouTube]

THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE!  I love the beat, the bass drop, and even the part where they say "twerk" (even though that part is in the actual song).

In the house

I find house music extremely fascinating. Avicii and Swedish House Mafia are among my favorite artists and I can never seem to stop listening to it.

There are three reasons why I love house/dance music:

1.  The atmosphere when you listen to it in a group of people is so great.  You just all of a sudden get this rush going through your entire body.  I'm getting chills just thinking about it now.

2.  The beat.  Need I say more?  I mean, it's like an orgasm of sounds from every direction.  Some may say it's a little over-the-top or too messy.  I, on the other hand, think it's beautiful.  Well, you know what I mean.

3.  These songs usually have great lyrics if any at all.  Swedish House Mafia's "Miami 2 Ibiza" is sung by Tinie Tempah and the lyrics are very pleasing - as long as you're not a 70-year-old.

I would absolutely love to go to a house concert.  The DJ always gets so into it with a plethora of lights and strobes.  Jumping up and down sounds really good at a time like this.

Without You

I'm listening to "Without You" by David Guetta and featuring Usher.  I decided to write about this song because Usher's voice sounds incredible.  His ability to sing the higher notes may give you goosebumps.  Usher has had an extraordinary vocal range ever since he started in the music industry.  Have a listen:

His songs are the songs where I desperately want to sing-along with them while driving, but I can't seem to sing in his range, no matter how hard I try.  Eventually I just gave up with trying because there's no point in losing my voice, especially since I like to talk so much.  No point.

Sammy Adams to my collection

I purchased four of Sammy Adams' mixtapes on eBay on Tuesday and I received them in the mail yesterday.  I absolutely love them!  The four CDs are OK Cool which is a pre-album to his upcoming album I Wish, Into The Wild, Party Records, and Boston's Opening Day.

The genre for the mixtapes is rap, which I know I have spoken about before but I think Sammy Adams is amazing and really cute so I have brought myself to listen to it.  While the majority of the songs are actually rap, he has a couple of remixes on the tapes.  He did a remix of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" on Boston's Opening Day and "No Speak Americano" with the original artist Yolanda Be Cool on Party RecordsParty Records has DJs DJ Whoo Kid and DJ J. Cash, Into The Wild has DJ Jayceeoh, and OK Cool has DJ Jayceeoh and Clinton Sparks.

The collection I bought contains several different producers on each of them like Deadmau5.  I would list all of the songs and producers/DJs for each song but that would be an extremely long list - 54 to be exact.  I would never make you sit through that.
