Miss Movin' On

I was in the car with my friend today and she played the song "Miss Movin' On" by Fifth Harmony.  I have to say, I was not a fan of Fifth Harmony at all...until I heard that song.

It's addicting.

The song was their debut single off their debut EP Better Together.  The EP is sold at Target stores and can be purchased through iTunes and Amazon.

The EP has five songs:

  1. Don't Wanna Dance Alone
  2. Miss Movin' On
  3. Better Together
  4. Who Are You
  5. Leave My Heart Out of This
One bonus track if you purchase on iTunes, "Me & My Girls" (my personal favorite), and one bonus track if you purchase at Target called "One Wish."

In My Life

I finally got a chance to watch The Beatles 50th Anniversary special, The Beatles:  The Night That Changed America, and it was incredible.  The covers were amazing and Paul's and Ringo's performances were unforgettable.

My personal favorite was Ed Sheeran's cover of "In My Life."  I love Ed Sheeran.  His voice is angelic and his guitar playing is mesmerizing.  Here's his performance:

So many people were unhappy with Katy Perry's cover of "Yesterday."  According to fans, her dress choice was odd and the fact that she changed the lyrics was horrid.  A little harsh?  I think so, but I have to say, I never like changing the lyrics to fit my gender.  Last year when I performed "Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels)," I did not change the lyrics "She's living in LA / With my best old ex-friend Ray," because that's not how Jim Croce wrote the song.  Especially at an event like that, I don't think Ms. Perry should have changed the words to the song.  But aside from that, I thought her performance was quite good.

Yoko Ono has been blamed for the breaking up of The Beatles for years.  It has been clear to at least my family that Yoko truly loved John Lennon.  During the whole special, she was dancing to the songs and the look on her face...you could see the love in her eyes for her John.  She wasn't the reason they parted ways.  Every band has to end and theirs ended at a time where the easiest person to blame was her.  Whether you want to believe it or not, Yoko Ono was madly in love.  She wasn't in it for the fame.

Bandsintown Concerts

Bandsintown Concerts is a free app you can download on the App Store or Google Play.

The app allows to enter your area to see what bands/singers are playing in your area.  They usually give you a 75 mile range, so every concert listed is sure to be as close as you want it to be.

The app is really easy to use and does not take long to download at all, so I highly recommend it.  If you're anything like me, you'll want to stay in tune with your inner rock star.  Oh my gosh, there is no way I just said that.....

Pandora

Sorry I didn't post much this week, but I'm back to posting every evening!

I went to the movies with my friend, Kayla, and then I slept at her house.  One thing about Kayla is she loves Pandora.

The popular music app allows you to select a "station" for, let's say, your favorite band.  For example, I would have a station called "One Direction."  The station then plays songs by your selected artist and/or similar artists.  The "One Direction" station always played a little bit of One Direction, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, etc...

Even though my friend does like different bands than I do, the stations she has selected all play really good songs that I find very good.  She has stations for Panic! at the Disco, Lana Del Rey, Relient K, and several more that all play catchy songs.

But, there's always a catch with apps like these.  If you don't like a song that is playing, you do have the ability to skip over the song.  Pandora only gives you a certain number of skips in a specified time frame.  If you don't like a song at all and never want to hear it come up again, you have the ability to hit the "thumbs down" button.  Pandora only gives you a certain number of dislikes in a specified time frame.  It is also possible to not be allowed to listen because you have "reached your maximum number of songs."  Please, ma'am.

The Nerds

On Thursday night I saw a band called The Nerds.  They are a cover band that has been around for quite some time - my mom used to see them with her friend in the '80s.  I've seen them before and they are absolutely incredible!!  Their name fits them well because they are dressed up as, well, nerds.

They performed a very diverse group of songs:

1.  The Boys Of Summer - Don Henley
2.  Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
3.  Locked Out Of Heaven - Bruno Mars
4.  Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
5.  An insert from Thrift Shop - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Several more were in this mix but unfortunately the concert had to be cut short due to rain since the show was outdoors.

Here is a picture of the stage before the concert.

I am unable to post the short video I took of their performance of "The Boys Of Summer," but if you have an Instagram you can watch it on there. My Instagram is @jordanhanley03
