This same year of 1971, Jim Morrison left The Doors to go on his own. To go back in time, Morrison and fellow UCLA student Ray Manzarek were the first two members of the band which came about in the summer of '65. Manzarek thought of Morrison's poems as "rock group material" and they formed the group from there. Because of his early death, Morrison never released a solo album since he died soon after he broke away from The Doors.
He was ranked number 47 of "100 Greatest Singers of All Time" by Rolling Stone [2]. This Door was closed way too soon.
